Marg

Open data

Marg is a game theory experiment. Anyone who gets their first 0.1 Gram is better off keeping it, but the whole network is better off when it’s passed on. Here you can see what people actually do. Everything is calculated from the TON blockchain and updated in real time.

—Telegram wallets
—brought to life by a friend
—passed 0.1 Gram on
—MARG across all players
—parent wallets started chains
—Gram passed on by parent wallets

What people do after receiving their first 0.1 Gram

How far the chains go

Step 1 — wallets from a “root” funded outside Telegram
Step 2 — wallets set up from those, and so on
Last column — how many at that step passed it on

The price of greed

Keeping the 0.1 Gram only looks smart: if you don’t pass it on, you earn no MARG for new wallets, and in the Marg queue a missed turn freezes your MARG.

—kept the 0.1 Gram or cashed out
—MARG missed — what those who passed it on earned on average
—would be frozen: got 0.1 Gram over a day ago and never passed it on
—MARG of theirs heading into the freeze

How we count

The Marg indexer reads every transaction on the TON network and recognizes Telegram wallets by their contract code. A wallet counts as brought to life by a friend if its first transfer of 0.1 Gram or more came from another Telegram wallet. “Passed on” means at least one new wallet came alive from it. If the 0.1 Gram went back to the sender within 10 minutes, that’s a boomerang and doesn’t count as a pass. Raw data: leaderboard.json.
